Who are Budget?

Budget offers a wide range of cars, 4WDs and minibuses as well as Australia’s largest fleet of truck and commercial vehicles in over 2,500 locations around the world. Whether you are a business traveller, moving home or planning a trip, Budget is likely to have the right vehicle for the job. 

Who can hire a car with Budget?

Any authorized driver who holds a current license that has been valid for at least 12 months.

What are their age restrictions?

Those over 21 years of age are eligible to hire.

Are any roads off limits?

Yes, you must only use your hire vehicle on roads which are properly formed and constructed, metalled or gravel road (unless the Vehicle is a 4 wheel drive).

Do they pose any distance restrictions?

You are not authorised to drive their vehicles in places such as Bruny Island, Fraser Island, into or out of the Northern Territory, Western Australia or Tasmania.. and that's just for starters! See their PDS for full details on where you cannot drive. 

Do Budget cover items stolen from within the hire car?

Yes, Budget's Protection package includes Excess Reduction, Personal Accident Insurance and Personal Effects and Baggage Insurance which includes cover for items stolen from within your hire car. 

Use of vehicle

Like any rental car companies, you cannot use their vehicles for any illegal purposes, racing, contests or performance tests of any kind. You must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or have a blood alcohol content that exceeds the legal limit in the State or Territory in which the vehicle is driven.

Extra benefits

Hiring a car with Budget allows you to earn points with Qantas or Flybys. Additional drivers can be included without extra charge. 24-hour emergency roadside assistance available on every Budget Australia rental. Carbon Offset program, Roadside Assistance available too.

Exxy collison waiver fees

If you hire a vehicle with Budget and it is damaged during your care you are required to pay damage liability of approximately $2,800 unless you take out their Loss Damage Waiver. This costs over $25-$27 dollars a day which reduces your damage liability to around $300-$500.

Additional amounts payable

Even if you accept their Loss Damage Waiver option and pay their Excess Reduction, you still have to pay the full amount for any overhead, underbody or water damages, plus any repairs on tyres. 

Don’t get fleeced

You’d be baaarmey not to buy car hire excess with Baaaney instead. A policy with CHE could cost as little as $11* a day and if you do have an accident, no matter if it's to the underbody or tyres, you pay nothing, zero, zilch, nada!
